There’s something about photographing a couple in a city that isn’t home.
You move differently. You linger longer. You let the day unfold instead of trying to control it.
Marissa and Andrew were honeymooning in Florence when our paths aligned. We began at the Rose Garden—Giardino delle Rose—perched quietly on the hillside, just below Piazzale Michelangelo. It felt removed from the rush of the city, softened by blooms and winding paths, with Florence stretching out below us.

The Rose Garden in Florence: A Beginning in Stillness
The Rose Garden is one of those places that feels almost secret, even though it isn’t. Terraced greenery. Sculptures tucked between hedges. That warm Tuscan light filtering through trees.

Climbing Upward
From the garden, we worked our way up the hill. Step by step, pausing when the light shifted.
And then—those views.
The Duomo rising in the distance. Terracotta rooftops layered endlessly. The kind of panorama that makes you instinctively go quiet.

Honeymoon Photography in Florence, Italy
Honeymoon sessions are different from engagement sessions or wedding days. There’s no timeline pressing in. No guests waiting. No structure beyond the light.
In Florence, that freedom is amplified. You can wander from gardens to panoramic views in under an hour. You can feel tucked away and completely expansive at the same time. Marissa and Andrew trusted the process fully. We moved. We paused. We let the skyline do what it does best.
Nothing forced. Nothing overly arranged. Just two newlyweds in Italy, at the top of a hill, with the Duomo anchoring the horizon.

If you’re planning a destination wedding in Florence, an Italian honeymoon, or dreaming of portraits in Tuscany that feel editorial yet effortless, this is how I approach it—on film and digital, guided quietly, always.
